November's Favorite Things

Writer: Ashley Ashley

Happy November! How are we in the 2nd week already?! I wanted to start something new here where I share my favorite things leading into a new month, or event coming up (like my half marathon a few weeks ago.) Each month will have a theme and this month's is

Fall to Holiday Season Transition

November is a weird month where you're not sure if you should keep up your Fall decor or switch and go all-in Christmas-mode, but this year I'm doing something a little different - I'm sprinkling in some holiday pieces while keeping it fall-based, at least through Thanksgiving. Some followers shared how they loved the idea, so I'm sharing some of my tips!

1. Use a mixture of Fall colors, greenery and neutral textures.

Don't be afraid to mix LOTS of textures, fabrics and greenery. My rust colored garland will be picked up later today and I can't wait to add it in on these shelves. The velvet pumpkins are on clearance right now and can be found here! Wood accents are a wonderful way to add texture and neutral colors to any decor.

2. Pull shades and decor for the NEXT holiday in slightly.

I found these neutral bottle brush trees at Target Dollar Spot this past weekend! The mini ones came in a set with blush and burgundy that I will use later! The prices ranged from $1, $3 and $5 for the mini set of 8. There is a 4-pack of the white I found here.

This is also a good time to bring in other shades of red and green that do not "clash" with your oranges of fall. Burgundy, rust, olive and sage are BEAUTIFUL colors to add in this transition season.

3. Add in your everyday favorites that will be easy to grab and blend right in.

My favorite bedtime tea currently is Celestial Seasonings : Country Peach Passion. It has no caffeine and mixed with honey, is pure heaven right before bed. The color mixed in with my orange doesn't hurt, right?!

This is also a good time to show off that special china. In my case, there's nothing too special about my dishes lol and I keep mine out all year and just change the decor around them ;)

You can find awesome metal / wood pieces to mix in at your local Dollar General or Target Dollar Spot too! I did not have a link for this metal "THANKFUL" sign but I did find one that I love and will be putting up soon here.

4. Put up a Thankful Tree

The kids, my husband and I have been writing what we are thankful for every night in November and adding it to our Thankful Tree. I was itching to get our King of Christmas Tribeca Spruce tree out already and this is a perfect way to do it! I have my coffee while enjoying this beautiful view, feeling so blessed and grateful, first thing in the morning.

So what do you think? Is this transition decor "sprinkle" something you would try, or are you one season or the other? Let me know in the comments!
